Patients Know Best gives you secure access to your health information, but if you decide you don’t want to use the service, there are a few options available. Here’s what you need to know:
De-registration
De-registration removes your email address from your PKB record. This means:
- You will no longer be able to log in to your record.
- You will stop receiving email notifications from PKB.
- If requested, we can disable sharing so that healthcare professionals can no longer access your record.
If you no longer wish to access your PKB record, you should contact your clinical team. They can arrange for your record to be de-registered, meaning you will no longer be able to log in. As part of this process, we remove your email address, but your healthcare team can still update your record.
If your email is later added back as part of a records update, you may be re-invited and we'll notify you about new activity.
If you no longer wish to receive these notifications, speak to your clinical team about how they can manage this.
Deletion
Deletion removes your record from PKB, but it is subject to approval from your healthcare provider. Please note:
- Any information you have added to your record can be edited or hidden before it is viewed by a healthcare professional.
- Once a professional has accessed your record, the organisation may retain your data, typically for up to 8 years, in line with NHS Records Management guidelines.
- Deleting your record will not prevent a healthcare provider from creating a new record for you in the future.
What Happens After You Stop Using PKB?
Even if you stop using PKB, healthcare professionals involved in your care can still update your record with important information, such as diagnoses, allergies, and test results.
