When you log in to PKB, you'll see a welcome message at the top of your homepage. It's important to understand:
- The welcome message comes from your record creator - This message is set by the first healthcare organisation that created your PKB record, not necessarily your current main provider
- It doesn't change automatically - Even as you receive care from different providers, this message typically stays the same
- It doesn't limit your care information - You'll still receive information from all healthcare teams involved in your care, regardless of which organisation's welcome message appears
Examples of Welcome Message Confusion
Common scenarios that might cause confusion:
- You see a welcome message from Derby and Burton NHS Trust, but you're now receiving care from North Staffs Hospital Trust
- Your welcome message mentions a hospital you visited years ago, even though you're now with a different healthcare provider
- The welcome message is from a specialised unit, but you primarily receive care from your local hospital
What This Means for Your Care
The welcome message doesn't affect:
- Which providers can share information with you
- What information you can access
- The quality or continuity of your care
It's simply a historical marker of which organisation first set up your PKB record.
How to Check Which Healthcare Providers Are Connected
