At Patients Know Best, we believe that everyone should have equal access to their health information. Our platform is designed with accessibility at its core, ensuring that all patients can navigate and use their records with ease.

Accessing PKB on different devices

PKB is browser-based, so you can access your record on a device with a modern web browser and an internet connection. This includes desktop and laptop computers, tablets and smartphones.

The website is designed to work across different screen sizes, allowing you to access your health information on the device that works best for you.

Support for people with limited vision

PKB supports browser zoom, allowing you to increase the size of information displayed on the screen.

PKB also works with standard screen readers, such as JAWS. Page elements are designed so that information can be read aloud by compatible screen-reading software, and navigation features are available to make it easier to move through pages.

Colour and visual accessibility

PKB is designed so that important information is not communicated by colour alone.

Colours are distinguishable in grayscale and, where colour is used to communicate meaning, another visual indicator is also provided.

For example, symptom severity is represented using both colour and the height of the symptom severity bar.

Screen readers and accessibility tools

As PKB works within a web browser, it can be used with standard accessibility tools including screen readers, speech recognition software and compatible browser accessibility tools.

Navigation has also been designed with accessibility in mind, including options that allow screen-reader users to skip repeated navigation elements and move directly to page content.

Languages

PKB is available in 25 languages.

The software automatically detects the language set in your web browser and will display PKB in that language where it is supported.

You can also manually change the language using the language menu at the bottom of the page.

For more information about the languages available and how to change your language, visit our Languages page.
