Why did I receive this email?
You may have received an email from us because your child’s healthcare team has listed your email address as a contact in your child's record.
If you were not expecting this email or are unsure why you received it, contact your child’s healthcare team to confirm. If you need access to their record, follow the steps below.
Who can access a child’s PKB record?
Children under 16 cannot register for PKB using NHS login or token registration. Instead, their clinical team must invite them via email. If your child is too young to manage their record, you can link your own Patients Know Best record with theirs as a carer. This allows you to log in and access their information.
How to become a carer for your child
Registering your own PKB account
If you are in England and do not yet have a PKB account, you can create one using NHS login. Once registered, you can be invited as a carer by your child’s healthcare team or request access through the Friends/Family section.
You can sign up here: Register for Patients Know Best
We have a page with further instructions on setting up your NHS Login here: Creating an NHS Login
Asking for access
If your child already has a PKB record, you can request access by:
- Going to the Sharing section in PKB
- Selecting Friends/Family
- Clicking Ask for access and completing the form
If they do not have access, their healthcare provider can add you to their account.
Managing your carer role
Once registered as a carer, you can:
- View and manage your child’s record
- Find your carers and those you care for under Sharing > Friends/Family
- Remove yourself or update permissions through PKB’s settings
